If you've been working on an application for Companion 8.4, chances are you've tried running it under 8.5 and found (annoyingly) that it didn't seem to work right. You may have glanced at the Best Practices for 8.5 guide, but chances are it wasn't clear what went wrong. So here are the basics:

  • Linked message numbers are no longer received as -1xxx, but just xxx. This is more consistent with the rest of the system.
  • Registering commands is now done by sending a MODULE_INFO response to PROBE_MODULES. The old command index messages (182 and 183) are no longer used.
  • As of Beta 2¾, the applications menu is broken. We're hoping to have this fixed for the next beta build.
